Senderships
Our Senderships program works to break down the financial barriers to climbing. We help cover the costs of climbing summer camps, afterschool classes, teams, and gym memberships so that any kid who wants to is able to participate.
Eligibility:
- Sendership applicants must be aged 18 or younger and must face a financial or other significant barrier to climbing (ie transportation).
- Applicants must commit to climbing regularly for the duration of their Sendership, attending at least three quarters of classes if the Sendership covers a program, or at least one day per week for a gym or team membership.
- We request that Sendership recipients, along with a parent or guardian, commit to a short feedback session with a Project Send It board member to let us know what they are getting out of climbing.
Completed Sendership applications are due by the 15th of every month, and you will hear back from us by the end of that month. If you have any questions, email us at [email protected].
Should I apply for a Sendership?
Here are some loose guidelines to help you decide if a Sendership is right for you.
1
Definitely apply for a Sendership!
In the next 12 months, you are worried about paying for some basic necessities before you have the money to pay for additional items or programs.
Example: Maria currently works an afterschool job to help her family pay for groceries.
2
You anticipate being able to pay for basic necessities in the next 12 months, but not to have any extra income for things like a climbing gym program or membership.
3
Still apply; however, know that priority may go to other applicants.
Example: Helen is participating in a climbing program right now but her family’s not sure if they can continue paying for it for the next 6-12 months.
4
You expect to be able to pay for basic necessities and some other items/programs for your child in the next 12 months, but you may be unable to afford or save up for the specific climbing program you are considering.
Example: Sarah is currently taking piano lessons, but won’t be able to join climbing team without a Sendership.
5
Consider donating to our Senderships program!
You are currently paying for basic necessities and multiple other items or programs for your child.
Example: William currently plays soccer in a travel league as well as taking climbing classes and tuba lessons.

FAQ
We award Senderships to kids 18 and younger, or, if older, who are still in high school.
We give out recurring Senderships for a maximum of six months. Because of that, you are welcome to apply up to twice a year.
Absolutely! Please fill out separate applications, but mention that your sibling is also applying and we will take that into consideration while reviewing applications.
Our current chapters are in the Front Range (Denver area) and Cascadia (NW Oregon and SW Washington), so priority will be given to applicants from those places. However, if you don’t live in one of those regions, you are still welcome to apply, and we will do our best to award as many Senderships as possible.
